Alignment: Root to Rise

In Anusara Yoga, “root to rise

reminds us that true lift begins with a steady, connected foundation.

As you practise Parsvakonasana (Extended Side Angle), root through the four corners of your front foot and feel the outer edge of your back foot grounding firmly into the earth. Then gently draw your feet towards one another, creating a subtle strength through the legs and into the core of the pelvis.

From this stable centre, lengthen through the spine and reach through the crown of the head. Allow the upper body to open and extend, without collapsing into the waist or forcing the shape.

The more fully we root, the more freely we can rise
